Here’s a video of the iPhone 6 fully assembled and connected to a Mac courtesy of the folks at Feld & Volk.
This week Abdel and Keith talk about Dropbox, wearables, Apple’s rumored iPhone/iWatch event, and Twitch.
Earlier today, claimed Foxconn schematics of the iPhone 6 made their way onto the web. If these screenshots are legit, we now have some more interesting details about Apple’s upcoming smartphone — most importantly — dimensions.
Given that it’s all but confirmed that Apple will have a 4.7-inch iPhone, our good friend Michael Norton took the liberty of mocking up how the 4.7-inch iPhone would compare to some of the current set of popular flagship smartphones out there, namely the Galaxy S5, HTC One M8. When compared side by side, it appears that the iPhone 6 will be noticeably smaller than both the S5 and M8. Of course, it makes sense that it would, given that they respectively have 5.1-inch and 5.0-inch displays compared to Apple’s rumored 4.7-inch display.
Where it gets a little more interesting is when we compared the rumored 4.7-inch iPhone 6 to the HTC One M7 (last years HTC flagship phone). If you recall, it also uses a 4.7-inch, 1080P display.
Here is where the size differences are nearly indistinguishable. If these schematics are correct, then the 4.7-inch iPhone will be 1 mm taller and 1 mm narrower than the HTC One M7.
There is one area though that is noticeably different: thinness. Again, if these schematics are correct, then the iPhone 6 will be more than 25% thinner than the M7. If true, then the thinness and roundness of the body and sapphire display could make for a much more pleasant feel in the hand when compared to one another.
We’re just a few weeks away from finding out if any of this stuff is true. September 9th is all but confirmed by Apple so we won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
Oh, and here’s one last image comparing the thickness of HTC One M7, the rumored 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and the current iPod Touch. Man, that’s thin.
You should also follow Michael Norton on Twitter. He’s awesome and knows a lot about tech. A LOT.
If we go by the measurements listed up top, here is what a 5.5-inch iPhone would look like when compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which carries a 5.7-inch display. You’ll notice that the iPhone is a tad bit taller (about 7 mm). It’s also a little bit narrower by about 1 – 2 mm and would be about 1 mm thinner too. Still, it gives you perspective of size.
