You’re moving into a new space! Congrats!
This is a big step and you want to make it your own. But with what’s on the market, everything feels bland. It doesn’t speak to you, looks generic and uncomfortable, and feels like it will be like every other component based product out there that makes any space seem like a drab, cold office space.
So, the next best thing? Design your own furniture!
You may be thinking: That’s impossible. I don’t know how to do that and don’t have a design degree. When I sketch out an idea, it comes out looking like a couple of sticks put together that would break as soon as you touched it.
You don’t have to worry about that when using a 3D configurator to design from scratch.
What is a 3D configurator?
A 3D configurator is a web-based software tool that allows customers to design and customize 3D models of furniture. It’s easy to use and lets you interact with your design in real time. Pre-designed components and parameters allow you to also have something to work off of to modify and suit your needs and preferences, but you can also make an entirely new design using a creation tool.
Are you ready to get started on making your own custom pieces?
Here are 5 ways to bring your ideal pieces from idea to production and get the perfect furniture that will suit you and your needs and comfort.
- Get inspired – find examples of your ideal piece of furniture or the layout of what you want your space to look like when it’s done. Make an inspo-board and save pictures from Google, Pinterest, etc. to find the look and vibe you’re going to have a baseboard to fall back on.
- Think about comfort and style – what do you find comfortable in the pieces you have already. No need to reinvent the wheel. Take what knowledge you have and work to improve upon them
- Know your space – is it small and cramped, or is it spacious and you don’t know what to do with all the space?
- Compile all of your research and decide on your direction – sometimes a lot of choices can really get away from us and the end product can look like a hodge podge of collected things. Here’s a shorthand list of things to consider for your new space: design/aesthetic, shape, color palette, comfort, and size.
- Use a 3D configurator to see your ideas come to life – the 3D configurator can not only help you in the design process, but also give you a 360 view on the end product to see how it’ll look when it’s done. Making multiple designs? No problem. Pop your designs into a 3D model of the space you’re furnishing and see what your new place will look like. Change colors, placements, and dimensions to really get a vibe of how everything will turn out before even shelling out money for the materials.
