Betting Jargon
Getting terms can be confusing and often differ between sports so it is wise to make sure you brush up on terms that are specific to horseracing and so here are a few that you may need to know…
Win – this is one of the simplest bits and all you have to do is select a horse that you think will win and in order to get a return those must be successful. Depending on the selection you make the amount of money you can win differs but this will become clear when you make the bed as the odds will be evident.
Place – much like a win bet this is another simple bet that beginning better is generally chosen and it simply means placing a bet on a horse to come either first or second in the race and so you will get a return if they are successful in doing so.
Exacta – this bit is a little bit more complicated than the ones above but simply means that you select two horses you believe will finish first and second place in the race and if they do so you will win but both selections must finish in the places that you anticipated to win.
Superfecta – Placing this but it’s not confusing but the likelihood of a new be better being successful is low. This involves making selections for the horses that will come first, second, third and fourth in a particular race and all must be successful to win.
Ante Post – This is a bit on the race well in advance of the race and is placed due to prices often being lower at this time as opposed to when the betting market has opened. The risk with this type of debt is that because you are placing it before the betting that has opened final decisions have not been set and so although the prices can be low your Horse could ultimately drop out from the race and in that case you would not receive your bet back.
