December 18, 2019

There will always be room for growth in the tech industry and your ability to keep learning is endless. It’s often challenging to find the right job where you can maximize your skills and degree. Some of it requires several years of work experience, but you must always start somewhere, even if it means being an intern or a volunteer. Finishing a tech degree and searching for jobs available isn’t as hard as you may think. These days, online job portals are readily available where you can research and start your career in tech.

If you have recently graduated and still can’t decide what job to search for, here are some of the best entry-level jobs you might want to consider:

Web Developer

Whether you’re interested in starting to work from home as a home-based freelancer or you’d prefer to work a traditional 9 to 5 job, you might want to consider working as a web developer. Because most people are hooked with the online world, most businesses adapt to these by creating their own websites and software applications. Because of this, web developer jobs is one of the most in-demand jobs nowadays in both startup companies in San Francisco and well-established ones in Silicon Valley.

As a recent graduate, you may want to work as a web developer for smaller organizations first to establish a reputation for producing high quality, functional, and aesthetically pleasing websites before working your way up to promoting your web development services to larger international businesses.

Alternatively, you may want to work for a web design firm that will help you find clients to build your brand without taking too much effort in promoting your services.

Test Engineer

A test engineer position may somehow intimidate you. But there are lots of test engineer vacancies open for newbies. Your job is to test software applications being made by programmers and web developers. You are the one in-charge in assuring the quality of systems and applications before its launch. From little errors to complex mistakes, the job of test engineers is as important as the web developers especially if you’re handling a project that includes confidential data. If you’re an aspiring test engineer, you must be attentive to details and has a complete understanding of the software development cycle and business flow.

Systems Analyst

With an IT degree, you should also be able to get a job as a systems analyst. As a systems analyst, your job will be to analyze your business’ software, so that you’ll be able to implement new pieces of software that will help your business run more efficiently. As a system analyst, you must have strong analytical skills, has an initiative, and knows how to adapt and work with a team.

Network Administrator

You may also be interested in pursuing a role as a network administrator. In this job, you will be responsible for installing, monitoring and maintaining internal intranet systems for the business which you choose to work for. You’ll also be in charge of making sure that the systems and intranets which you install are optimized at all times and will troubleshoot any problems related to the network.

As a new graduate, you might be dreaming of being on top of the corporate ladder. However, for you to be effective, you must begin working for entry-level jobs. Aside from building a solid foundation of knowing the basics, you’ll also be able to develop the qualities that you’ll be needing when the opportunity for promotion opens for you.
